Thanks very much for your support Tim and Perkie, 2 wonderful musicians and respected friends. And thank you for the 17 CD sales I have generated from fellow Dmusic members and all your support. I know that life is difficult and money is tight for everyone, the fact that you chose to spend a few dollars on my music means the world to me.
I've picked up some negative vibes around this site and others for the fact that I am SELLING my music.I just wanted to affirm that my aim was to accomplish something I've always dreamed of, releasing my own CD. Making profit is something I have not considered, as this project will do very well to come close to breaking even. I have had to finance the project myself through working hard and saving up for a long time to do this, and I have invested in music technology which is very expensive - I have worked hard to afford legitimate software costing hundreds of dollars (I don't use cracked software) and close to 2,000 american greenbacks has been spent in the past 2 years in order to produce this music using that software and technology.
I have free music available and will continue to post free downloadable music, but to release my own CD commercially to the public has been a goal of mine, a true dream, for many years and I will not feel bad that all my hours of work and money into financing this project means I have to charge money for it. The real truth is that 9 dollars for the CD is even selling at a loss, it costs 8.60 per CD (CDBaby take 4 dollars off each sale, plus the cost of CD production, taxes, shipping etc), plus 55 dollars setup and then the cost of mailing them in CDs in small batches. Paypal involves me personally going to the post office and the cost of postage to the USA for the CD and poster package is almost 8 dollars. Given that the CDs cost a shade under 4 dollars each when tax/shipping/admin costs come into it, you can see selling them for 12 dollars is give or take a few cents, only a break even cost. I am trying to provide the best value I can to anyone who likes my music and wants to purchase it. I could quite easily have charged 15 dollars per CD and known that my loyal friends who bought the CD for 10 dollars or less would not have minded one bit but I respect the value of a dollar and I am hoping that keeping the cost as value friendly as I can might lead to some extra sales outside this website. Trust me, it would have been a lot easier and cheaper to put this out as a free release (unless I sell my whole quota of discs which may or may not happen), a couple of hours in photoshop for some mock up artwork/design and ripping mp3s is much more preferable than having to spend hours designing to templates, tweaking, retweaking, researching viable CD Duplication/Printing companies, paying them big bucks to produce and then paying more big bucks in taxes and shipping, and having to prostitute yourself to various websites/friends/family, get active on Myspace, sign up accounts at other sites and take a loss on several CDs that go out to magazines, radio, etc plus pay for the postage and shipping on that - it takes a lot of manhours.
But I am thrilled to have a good quality sounding CD (thousands of hours spent tweaking mixes, getting it 'just right'), in a nice jewelcase with colour artwork and CD label, and as much as I like the convenience of mp3/wma/ogg vorbis etc, the sound quality, even at 320 Kbps, is not as nice as uncompressed CD audio. To have my music available at Napster and Itunes and other big websites, where people might look me up after perusing the latest U2 or Chemical Brothers or whatever major star, even if the likelihood is I will sell about a dozen 99 cent downloads in my lifetime, some of which goes to CDBaby, etc means a lot to me. If I don't sell another disc and end up looking at a box full of my CDs in a few years time, I will not have any regrets. I achieved a goal - I fulfilled a dream !
Many of the people being critical just don't consider what it takes to put out a CD. The finances are one thing, but you can not put a price on the huge amount of time and effort it takes. I know I will never criticize anyone for selling their music on CD or digital download again after this experience !!

Forgive the pun but "Selling Out" is a good thing...
I hope you "sell" all the CD's you duplicated, it is a tremendous amount of time and effort to record, mix and master a CD and anyone who thinks otherwise and complains should just go ahead and try doing it themselves before crying about it..!
Thank you
